Poetry in Art

Three poems by Alison MacGregor Grimley
Submission for the Adrian Henri Prize for Poetry in Art

Snow Field
Snow Field
Vestiges of snow.
Dark ground emerging
from a bank where aconites grow.
Black trees drawn on a northern sky,
archives of a season past.
Cold clarity
and the silence of winter

Moor
Moor
Light,expansive,white.
Space extends to the sublime.
Soft folds and gentle browns
fill the world around.
Hushed breezes and distant cries
of lone birds.
I tread carefully to escape being found.

Storm
Storm
Roaring wind.
The trees become frail and shudder.
Snow is hurled at the hill
in a frenzy of flakes.
A fearful light comes from the west,
to darken the land
and take control of the very earth itself.
